Acne( pimples) develop when pores in the skin become clogged with dead skin cells, bacteria or both. This clogging occurs due to excessive sebum production by the body.Clogged pores can lead to inflammation and cause pimples. The body produces more of a hormone called IGF-1 ( insulin like growth factor) during puberty which may increase the production of sebum.Certain foods can also raise IGF-1 levels. Avoiding these can help reduce the breakouts.
