Laser Skin Toning (Rejuvenation)

Skin Tightening
What is Laser Skin Toning (Rejuvenation) ?
  • Laser skin toning (rejuvenation) works to firm the skin plus it smooths out the skin’s texture and imperfections. It does this by stimulating the regrowth of new and healthy collagen, which means it replaces old and damaged skin with fresh skin. It can also treat a number of skin imperfections.
  • Cell turnover is where our skin produces new skin cells, which travel from the lowest layer of the epidermis to the top layer before we shed them. This happens every 28 days when we’re in our 20s, every 38 days in our 30s, every 48 days in our 40s and so on. As you can see, as we get a little wiser, our skin’s metabolism slows down and we don’t produce new and youthful skin as fast. This is why skin imperfections, such as blemishes and scars, linger around longer and why we notice the new and unexciting changes in our skin like laxity, lack of glow, fine lines and other pigmented lesions.
  • While that information may seem a little daunting, there is a way to fight the aging process. Laser skin rejuvenation speeds up our skin’s metabolism and makes it act like a 20-year-old’s. This laser facial uses Nd: YAG laser technology for non-ablative skin rejuvenation. It’s the perfect “lunchtime pick-me-up” (a session takes 45 to 60 minutes for the whole face) and is ideal for all skin types from super fair to chocolate.
What Is Laser Skin Tightening ?
  • Laser skin tightening is a minimally invasive, non-surgical process that uses an infrared light source (a laser) to tighten skin by heating the collagen under the skin’s surface, causing the skin to contract (tighten).
  • Facial skin tightening is noticeable immediately after the treatment, and there is no downtime, making this an increasingly popular procedure. Additional skin tightening occurs over the next few months, but optimal results usually require two or three treatments about a month apart.
  • Laser skin tightening is an FDA approved method for the reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. While laser skin tightening results may not be as dramatic as those of a face lift, patients enjoy moderate results with no downtime. An added benefit of laser skin tightening is that it is safe and effective for restoring a more firm, youthful appearance to skin all over the body.
What is the difference between laser skin tightening and laser skin resurfacing ?
  • Laser skin tightening often produces less immediate and dramatic changes than laser skin resurfacing, but it also poses far fewer risks, discomfort, and downtime for patients.
  • During laser skin tightening, a laser is used to heat the collagen under the surface of the skin, causing the collagen to expand and the skin to appear tighter. Laser skin resurfacing uses lasers to remove the outer layers of skin to promote the growth of new, healthier skin.
  • Because laser skin resurfacing actually removes the top layers of skin, it can be used to treat a broader range of cosmetic issues than laser skin tightening, such as wrinkles, age or sun spots, acne marks, and other facial scarring.
  • The risk for unfavorable changes in pigmentation and scarring is stronger with laser skin resurfacing than with skin tightening.

Hand Rejuvenation

Hands are one of the first places where the telltale signs of aging become apparent. Even if you have taken steps to keep your face and neck looking youthful, sun-damaged, veiny, wrinkled hands can make you look older than you are. There are a number of effective techniques to rejuvenate your hands, improving the quality and texture of your skin, while decreasing the wrinkling and prominent veins.

When to Consider Hand Rejuvenation
  • If your hands have prominent veins and tendons because of volume loss
  • If your hands are wrinkled and thin
  • If your hands have age spots
  • If your hands would benefit from improved skin tone and color
Hand Rejuvenation - Pros
  • A wide variety of options are available for rejuvenating your hands
  • After rejuvenation your hands will be smoother and fuller and your veins will be far less prominent.
  • Your hands will have a more youthful appearance
Hand Rejuvenation - Cons
  • Multiple procedures might be required to obtain the best results
  • Hands may be swollen, bruised and stiff after treatment, which will limit activity
  • If you have a history of impaired healing, such as diabetes, ongoing sun exposure and smoking (or exposure to secondhand smoke) you will see a less dramatic initial result and a shorter lasting result

Neck Rejuvenation

Neck Rejuvenation

The neck area is a commonly requested area for rejuvenation, as the skin gets thinner and more slack with time. It’s an area of concern for patients as they want to look natural, and consistent with rejuvenation on the face.

Neck skin is different than facial skin in that it has an underlying muscle of more dynamic movement, and there are less “stem” cells that can heal the skin after more aggressive treatment such as certain lasers. This is why expertise and experience is very important in addressing this area.

Chemical Peels

A peel is said to be a safe chemical solution. Contrary to the popular belief that peels are a cosmetic procedure, chemical peeling is a well-established dermatological procedure having numerous indications.

How is it done ?
  • Following cleansing or washing of the skin, a gel or solution is applied and allowed to rest on the skin for some time. The contact time may be different depending on the indication and the type of peel following which the peel is neutralized.
What are the indications ?
  • Pigmentation disorders such as melasma.
  • Active acne and post acne marks/scars.
  • Anti-aging and removal of blemishes.
  • Skin rejuvenation for events such as marriage.
  • Reduction of tan.
What are the precautions to be taken ?
  • Direct sunlight is to be completely avoided post peels for several days.
  • Application of sunscreen is of utmost importance.
  • Moisturizer may be required depending on the amount of peeling achieved.
  • Do not physically peel, scratch or rub the skin following the procedure.
  • Any creams or treatments that have been going on should be stopped for few days after the peel.
